Timer resolution fucks with your PCs internal timer do not use it. It's a placebo, if one second is no longer one second then one frame per second is no longer one frame per second because the data is invalid. You reduce what the computer thinks is a second so it counts FPS as higher when in fact it will be the same.

after some fiddling it seems to be related to timer resolution (interrupt timer for power saving) if i have nothing opened, timer is at 15.6ms, all fine, if i open youtube page, groove (music), or any game, timer resolution gets changed every second, i cant remember any time whereit should be variable at all, youtube used 1ms, games usualy too ...

How to use Maximum Timer Resolution Automatically. For this u need Gpedit.msc go to cortana and type run and open the app, then type gpedit.msc then go to administrative templates under the computer configuration, then go to network and go to QoS Packet scheduler then go to set timer resolution, enable it, and set it to 0.

That's pretty much the same concept, Windows standard timer resolution is 15.6 ms, using media player set it to 1.0 ms. Fortnite sets it to 1.0 on it's own btw, timer resolution sets it even lower to 0.5 ms. 15.6 to 1.0 was definitely noticeable, not so sure about 1.0 to 0.5. Could be placebo.

roughly speaking timer resolution is how often your processor"updates/refreshes". older operating systems (xp and earlier) would have it set to 15+ milliseconds as default. this could increase your ping by 10/15ish and maybe drop your fps by the same amount. so on older systems timer resolution set to max would help.

if your timer resolution shows. 0.997 0.496. then it isnt working it should be showing. 1.000 0.500. what you need to do is open cmd as an admin. copy and paste 1 at a time. bcdedit /set useplatformtick yes. bcdedit /set disabledynamictick yes. bcdedit /deletevalue useplatformclock.

Is Timer Resolution safe to use? | Tom's Hardware Forum. AMD crowns the Ryzen 7 9800X3D a ‘gaming legend’ in a surprise announcement — chipmaker claims $479 Zen 5 3D V-Cache chip is up to an average 20% faster than Intel Core Ultra 9 flagship. The humungous 8TB WD Black SN850X SSD crashes to a new all-time low price!

Also on the right column, check"Enable custom timer" and set"Wanted timer resolution" to 0.5 And use ISLC polling rate (ms) 500 from dropdown menu. And press Start, now it should be automatic and it starts every time you start windows so you don't have to do anything. I got this from some forum and it has worked for me perfecto

sorry for the delay XD. if you can use Windows (even the blue screen) open Terminal (admin): bcdedit /deletevalue useplatformclock. bcdedit /deletevalue useplatformtick. bcdedit /deletevalue disabledynamictick. bcdedit /deletevalue tscsyncpolicy. if not do this in safe mode. if you unable to safe mode reinstall Windows.

3. Timer resolution is the smallest unit of time that can be accurately measured by that timer. Timer resolution for the CPU (which is the RTC or Real Time Clock resolution) differs from that of the API made available to the programmer by the operating system. Check this. Share.
